Act 4

An integrative Musical Theatre and Faith Formation program for kids and teens

  • Grades 3-5; 6&7; 8-10; 11-12
  • Wednesdays at 4 pm beginning September 23, 2009. The Musical will be produced in late May, 2010

Act 1 is a Musical Theatre program for kids and teens from Grades 3-12. There will be four age groupings, depending on numbers enrolled. Kids will be auditioned for parts, but every child will get a part, regardless of ability or experience. The musical will be on a theme of caring for the world and its people. Kids can choose between singing and acting or stagecraft (set design, artwork, construction, multimedia technology).

Act 2 is a Social Action project that every age grouping will take on. This will be something that involves charitable works and/or social justice action. The project will be integrated into the themes of the musical. Your child will qualify for community service.

Act 3 is a Faith Formation component. Often weekends are so busy for families that attending Sunday School is difficult. Kids will participate in spiritual development, discussions and become familiar with the Scriptures. High school students will use a curriculum called Jesus 24/7 which is hot off the press and written with the United Church’s open and inclusive theology. Grades 11-12 students may choose to be confirmed at the end of this program. Those involved in Scouts or Guides may be eligible to earn badges.

Act 4 is FUN! As the participants will rotate from station to station, they’ll get to enjoy time in our new Youth Centre which includes air hockey, Wii games, music and social time. We may also make use of our gymnasium games such as volleyball, badminton and ping pong.
