| Leadership
Small Groups are led by committed, trained and accountable
Lay Pastors. These are laypersons who have received specialized
training and who feel called to care for other people in small
groups.
Training
Lay Pastors receive two years of training in the following
disciplines:
- Bible and theological reflection
- Leadership skills
- Small group theory and practice
- Christian discipleship
- Human relationships, including family systems and conflict
resolution
- Enneagram personality testing
- Gifts discernment
Accountability
Lay Pastors commit to monthly meetings where they receive
supervision both from their peers, and from the Minister.
At monthly meetings Lay Pastors:
- care for and support one by "checking in" as to how they're
doing
- receive support, care and help from the Minister
- pray together for one another, and the congregation
- hand in a monthly report to the Minister about the health
of their group
- study the Scripture readings for the upcoming month, so
as to be fully prepared for possible questions that might
arise
